After the RAF left...............

Quarters in Shackleton Square was transferred to the New Forest District Council.

Officers Quarters in Canute Drive remained in military use for much longer but are now all sold off.

The NAAFI is now Bransgore Christian Centre.

The underground radar station was used by military units displaced when the Signals Research and Development establishment moved to Malvern. The "hole" is claimed to have been set up for use as the Emergency War Headquarters for UK Land Forces. In this role the site is said to have hosted the UK National Military Command Centre. This use ceased in 1988/89 after less than 10 years. It is now privately owned and used for storage.

The domestic site hosted an air training corps adventure training centre for several years but otherwise it remained on a care and maintenance basis. It had a new lease of life in 1977 acting as the Rest and Recreation centre for the Household Cavalry during the Queen's Silver Jubilee year. For several years the site acted as a rehabilitation centre for the Vietnamese "Boat People". It is now privately owned and the built up area is used for educational activities.
