Project Walrus, help our friends over at Solent Sky put a Supermarine Walrus back in the air.

FONFA WHATS ON IN 2008
July 27th Tangmere Aviation Museum –
twin 90th birthday event RAF and Tangmere aerodrome – FONFA stand in marquee.August 2nd and 3rd. FONFA stand at the Bygone Days weekend at Ibsley – come and say hello.
August 28th –31st Bournemouth Seafront Air Festival FONFA will have a stand on the promenade between the piers - come and say hello.
November 11th There is no service, but Tributes can be placed for 11.00 a.m. at the New Forest Airfields’ Memorial. Please use the Memorial Enclosure to observe the Official Silence.
Some 2009 provisional dates – April 5th History Fair, May 25th US Memorial Day, June 28th Annual Service. All to be confirmed.
FONFA carries out aerial photographic survey of disused New Forest Airfields
In late August 2007, with the help of a friendly Auster Pilot, we were able to photograph all of the disused airfields except for Christchurch which is now built over, and Sway. We will be adding some of these photos to the web site in the near future, but below are a couple of tasters of what we can show you. If you are an author, researcher, historian or journalist who needs recent high definition aerial photos of the New Forest Airfields get in touch with FONFA.

Last flight of an RAF Canberra at Hurn

On July 18th 2006 the Royal Air Force's 39 (1 PRU) Squadron flew its last 3 Canberra PR9 aircraft on Round Robin cross countries. Avon 3 overflew all the Scottish airfields with Canberra associations. Avon 2 covered the North of England and Avon 1 the South. At 11:37 Avon 1 (shown above) made its last flight at Hurn making two flybys past the Flight Refuelling Hangar before departing to the Northeast. All three Canberras now face imminent retirement and 39 squadron disbands on July 31st.

New Forest Aviation Group (click here for more information from their new web site)
A really excellent aviation enthusiasts' group attracting good speakers and typically audiences of up to 75 or more for their presentations. The group meets at the Community Centre in Lyndhurst and meetings usually start at 7pm. Visitors are welcome, a small entry charge is made, which also includes tea or coffee and biscuits.
Christchurch Aviation Society
Another excellent local Aviation Society again with half time refreshments (chocolate biscuits a speciality). They meet at Druitt Hall Christchurch at 7.30 for 8 pm
