Models of Winkton Airfield and the 404th Fighter Group

So far no colour photographs have come to light of the 404th Fighter Group at or before their tour at Station 414 with the exception of one published photo of a P47 used by the 404th at Myrtle Beach for type familiarisation. I have produced a few small dioramas to attempt to show the aircraft in colour , some (the P47s and the trailer) in appropriate locations on Station 414. In fact all the photos are taken with the real Station 414 location in the background (the A31, A24 and P39 were never actually located there) and at the time the models were built the schemes shown were speculative. In fact the colour scheme and  representative markings proved to be quite accurate -omitting only the 404th's group letter -F- from in front of the white two digit aircraft number).

These six photographs are all scanned at 300dpi and file sizes average about 60k each in size.
